Brexit ist nicht getan! Deshalb teile ich gerne mit Euch diese Mail, die mich heute erreicht hat.
Dear Friedrich,
One year ago today, parliament voted on Boris Johnson’s hard Brexit deal. The government promised the British public that Brexit was "done" and they could all move on.
But nothing could be further from the truth. In the 365 days since, we have suffered from chronic labour shortages and falling exports. Empty shelves, empty petrol pumps and empty pockets have served as stark reminder that Brexit is only getting worse.
Brexit is anything but "done". And while our lives get harder, the government is using Brexit as an opportunity to slash our standards, undermine human rights protections, and whittle away the rights of EU citizens living in the UK.
As a government MP said in a leaked WhatsApp message, undercutting our existing rights and moving away from European protections is "the whole point of Brexit"[1].
That is why we will never stop fighting it. One year on from Brexit, will you join us and stand with us in that fight?
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
The good news is that people are not being fooled. A clear majority agree that Brexit is going badly. And everyone has seen Brexit disruption in some form or another: a whopping 82% of people have either seen or experienced fuel supply disruption this winter[2].
And people are making clear they reject the government’s choices that put us in this mess. The voters of Chesham & Amersham and North Shropshire have this year handed the government two stinging by-election defeats.
In September our exclusive research revealed even Leave voters – and 63% of Conservative voters – want British standards to be upheld after Brexit. They reject the government’s high barriers, low standards vision for the UK[3].
No matter what it says, the government has no mandate to attack our rights and standards post-Brexit. And it is haemorrhaging support even among its most loyal voters.
We can make 2022 the year that this government changes course from its destructive and unpopular hard Brexit project.
Join us today and be a part of the 2022 fightback.
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
Thank you, Friedrich, and best wishes,
Andrew Adonis
